Lighting modernization in the Gundeli car park with Zumtobel TECTON
To make parking garages not just functional but also inviting, a well-designed lighting system was needed. In the Gundeli-Park car park in Basel, Zumtobel modernized the entire lighting concept on behalf of the real estate company Wincasa. The new solution not only enhances the visibility of cars, people, and obstacles but also boosts the visitors' subjective feeling of safety. Thanks to the proven collaboration with Zumtobel, the TECTON continuous-row lighting system was once again selected to provide optimal and uniform lighting.
Efficient lighting to combat the "cave effect"
The parking garage lacks daylight, and the unpainted ceiling previously enhanced the impression of a dark, oppressive environment. To address this issue, TECTON BASIC continuous-row luminaires replaced the old fluorescent tubes. With their wide beam angle, they ensure pleasant brightness and reduce dark shadow areas. At the same time, their resilient construction makes them particularly durable - an important factor for long-term use in parking garages.
Sustainable modernization with plug-and-play approach
Instead of complex modifications, Zumtobel opted for a retrofit approach where the existing TECTON tracks were simply reused. This allowed for quick installation of the new luminaires without significant impact on the infrastructure. This not only saved time and costs, but also resources – a sustainable upgrade that perfectly combines energy efficiency, longevity, and safety.

The Gundeli car park was modernized with the TECTON continuous-row lighting system from Zumtobel, allowing for simple luminaire replacement and flexible extensions. The measure reduced power consumption by 50% and was appreciated by users. Philipp Büchler reports high client satisfaction and follow-up orders that have already been agreed upon. The bright, clean lighting and the sustainable, future-proof solution were praised in particular – a benefit for operators and users alike.
