Modern health centre for improved healthcare

The Clydebank Health and Care Centre is revolutionising healthcare for 47,000 residents. Developed for NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde and West Dunbartonshire Council, the centre offers an integrated model with six GP practices, physiotherapy and additional services. At the centerpiece of the Queen's Quay Master Plan, it establishes new benchmarks in patient care and merges functionality with contemporary architecture.

Intelligent lighting design – daylight utilisation meets modern technology

Zumtobel and Thorn developed a customised lighting concept that optimally utilises daylight and minimises power consumption. The highlight is the SLOTLIGHT infinity installation in the atrium, which provides uniform brightness and is easy to clean. In corridors and treatment rooms, glare-free luminaires create a pleasant atmosphere for patients and optimal working conditions for doctors.

A bright entrance area with large glass facades and a high ceiling. A square LED light panel hangs centrally, complemented by integrated LED spotlights that evenly illuminate the room.

Reliable lighting for every scenario – from diagnosis to emergency

The Thorn IQ Wave luminaires with UGR <19 and CRI>80 guarantee optimal lighting conditions for diagnoses in treatment rooms. Thorn's Voyager Star ensures safe evacuation with EN 1838-certified emergency lighting. In the plant rooms, Aquaforce Pro luminaires with IP66 protection provide high efficiency and resilience.

Sustainable technology for a future-proof clinic

Thanks to Zumtobel’s LITENET lighting controls, the lighting adjusts dynamically to usage, optimising energy consumption. The system utilises daylight and reduces CO₂ emissions. This sustainable solution combines functionality, aesthetics, and energy efficiency — an award-winning design shaping the future of healthcare.
A bright entrance area with multiple levels and glass balustrades. The ceiling is equipped with large, rectangular LED light panels. The room combines clean lines, ample natural daylight, and modern architecture to create an inviting atmosphere.

A high-quality, efficient lighting solution was essential to meet the high requirements of comfort, energy efficiency, and ease of maintenance. Zumtobel supported the project team from the concept phase to implementation with excellent expertise.
