An innovative new building for the Faculty of Civil Engineering - purpose driven lighting solutions

The project at the Faculty of Civil Engineering at Josip Juraj Strossmayer University in Osijek aimed to create an innovative educational environment that would accommodate the increasing number of students while also incorporating architectural highlights. One of the greatest challenges was to develop a functional lighting concept to maximise the use of natural daylight while ensuring a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere in the evening. The goal was to develop a lighting solution that integrates seamlessly into the diverse room geometries and considers the varying needs of students and staff.

Products

A modern lecture hall with linear LED fixtures on the ceiling that ensure uniform lighting. Large windows allow daylight to enter and offer a view of the surroundings, while the wooden seats create a warm atmosphere.

Products and their benefits - Perfect lighting for every room atmosphere

A project highlight was the use of TUBILUX tubular luminaires, which, with their 360-degree all-round lighting, ensure uniform illumination even in spaces with ceiling heights of up to 16 metres. The ECOOS pendant luminaire was utilized in the classrooms and offices, providing glare-free, pleasant lighting through its micro-pyramidal structure and perforated side reflectors. The luminaire enables a combination of direct, indirect, and lateral lighting that supports the visual tasks of students and enhances their concentration.

Sustainability and Technological Innovation – Tailored Solutions for Campus

In addition to high energy efficiency, emphasis was also placed on sustainable and user-friendly technologies. The app-based LITECOM lighting management system was used in conference rooms to create customised lighting scenarios for presentations, group work, and discussions. Another example of technological integration is the ONLITE RESCLITE safety lighting, which efficiently and safely meets the requirements for emergency lighting. Overall, all solutions have been designed not only to enhance functionality and comfort, but also to reduce the ecological footprint - a concept that is gaining increasing significance in the architecture of educational institutions.

"Zumtobel lighting solutions not only offer functional but also aesthetic benefits. They support students' concentration, create a pleasant working environment, and simultaneously contribute to reducing energy costs. A perfect symbiosis of technology, design, and efficiency."
